After returning from Mecca, I brought home more than a couple of gallons of Zamzam water and some souvineirs… A terrible cold!
Like everyone else on this planet, I’ve suffered colds before, but not for this long though..
It’s been roughly two weeks now and it’s still vicious!
The thing is that I’m not much of a medicine person. I like my immune system to battle it out with the cold till it’s gone. It seems though maybe because of the fasting, my body wasn’t getting the nourishment needed to repel the cold. As in the use of some sort of medicine, the farthest I’ll usually go it having some lemon and honey and the occassional Panadol pill.
But the cold is still here and I’ve even racked some casualties on the way, most noticably my uncle Ali and maybe a few more of my extended family due to the Eid kisees!
With work lurking its ugly head around the corner after over a month of relaxing and enjoying some of my hobbies, I’m not prepared to go to work with a fresh box of tissues everyday!
Desperate times need desperate measures
So I decided to go to the pharmacy, on the advice of a couple of friends, to get some medicines and started to take them and ilhamdulillah I’ve started to feel a wee bit better although drowsy
That’s the power of medicine I guess..
Try some hot chicken soup.
yes yes chicken soup.. and take vitamine C tablets, they do wonders
@ammoontie: Thank you, I had some earlier today! I know you sent me a comment yesterday but when moderating I turned it to spam by accident :$ sorry!
@Naz: I’ve never taken Vitamin C tablets before although a lot of people have said that they’re good for colds and stuff but I’m not a big fan of tablets and medicines. Thanks for the tip!
actually, theres still no cure for the common cold! all those medicines do is just make the symptoms feel less severe, so you just have to fight it off the regular way.
@ammaro.com: Yeah, but ilhamdulillah my immune system is doing its job and the cold is going away
