The Dome is a Year Old!

April 24th 2007 was the birth of this lil blog, and did I expect it to last this long?

Never!

Some of you may ask how did I get a blog in the first place?

Well, my best friend Zeyad, who owns this domain came up to me and asked “You know, Yagoobo you should write a blog, would you like me to set one up for you?” and me being me I said “Yes”!

and here’s a timeline of the life of this blog so far:

April 2007:

My first cringe-worthy post: At Last , reading it now, I just think WTF?!

May 2007:

May was a month of experimentation with the blog, using it for work and showcasing a work colleague’s artwork and nobody reads it except a handful of friends and my now fiancee.

June 2007:

Kerching! Somebody finally reads the blog and this post lands in a Global Voices article (Cheers Ayesha!) and get some exposure.

July 2007:

With summer heating up, I searched ways to fight the heat with air conditioned clothes and 1022 metre high buildings!

August 2007:

August marked the beginning of the Ali Bahar series and my very first Arabic post (which is till this day by far my most favourite post ever!).

September 2007:

Meeting some bloggers and the first Y-Casts were a couple of the highlights of September 2007, including going to Mecca…and for free!

October 2007:

What makes a Bahraini was the theme of October, seeing how Bahrainis talk, how we live and the music we love to hear.

November 2007:

November was all about a lack of culture and the seeking of the water called Margadoosh!

December 2007:

Covering the FIKR6 conference (Thanks to Mahmood ) and the beautiful memories of cruising the aisles of a supermarket were on offer in December.

January 2008:

A new year filled with gigs and celebrations and the launching of the Say No To Plastic Bags Campaign, and having a hard time deciding what to wear for work.

February 2008:

Simply, me getting engaged!

March 2008:

Finding lost relatives and rueing the lack of culture on one hand and loving the Spring of Culture in the other!

April 2008:

This month was all about Retro passports and Y-Logs galore (just look below this post!)

Throughout this last year, I’ve also put the blog in good use as a resource for my training course where I basically dump links and upload documents for my trainees…

Just one final thing before I go, what are your favourite posts on my blog?? I would love to know and know why!

I would like to thank everyone who have dropped by this very small corner in cyberspace and commented on my posts. I would also like to thank the Bahrain blogosphere for their support and I’m really glad that I’ve had the opportunity to meet some of you in bloggers’ gatherings and making friends with you all.

and many thanks and gratitude to the guy who made me do this.. Zeyad!
