Google Translate Fail!

Google Translate Fail!

During the Gaza War last year, a Google Translate fail spread virally through the Arab world that if you typed إسرائيلي يقتل فلسطيني (An Israeli killed a Palestinian) and translated it you would get “An Israeli was killed by a Palestinian”. This obviously lead to the normal outrage, but rather than shouting BOYCOTT GOOGLE!, users did the right thing…

They simply suggested the correct translation until it showed the proper translation. Positive action leads to positive change!

Anyways I just received this video via YouTube and all you Arabic speakers please see the translation mistakes in this video and suggest the proper translation. Please excuse the ‘holier-than-thou’ mood of the video, and remember that most people depend on Google Translate for their translation needs so we as Arabic speakers need to rectify this.

Here’s a list of the sentences translated incorrectly in this video:
مصر هزمت إسرائيل
مصر دمرت إسرائيل
مصر احتلت إسرائيل
أمريكا احتلت إسرائيل
العرب هزموا إسرائيل
أنا عربي أحد صناع الحضارة

So take the time to contribute with the correct translations here

Since we’re on the topic of translation, I strongly recommend using Yamli’s Dynamic Translation Tool as it is much more reliable and translates better with context from Arabic to English and vice versa, it even does an incredible job with Japanese!
