Things to do with a 1022 metre high building…

Fellow bloggers Mahmood and Ammar recently have posted news of Bahrain building the tallest skyscraper in the world standing at a staggering 1022 metres high in Manama. While still trying to comprehend the thought of such a tall building dwarfing the likes of the Bahrain Financial Harbour and Bahrain World Trade Centre being in Bahrain and especially in Manama where there isn’t enough space to park your car (unless the reclaim more land as expected).

But the big question is, if we actually are going to build this skyscraper (I can just picture the poor Indian labourers building the top floor with a parachute on their backs… Yipes!)what are we going to do with it? Will it be a white elephant like the Millennium Dome in London?

Well other than being another sign of Judgement Day as Ammar says I sat down in my boredom and thought up this list in my head and hope you enjoy it… and in no particular order:

  1. An excellent solution to the parking crisis in Manama! Over 100 floors of shaded parking is a Bahraini driver’s dream
  2. Another great solution for people waiting for houses from the Ministry of Housing and Works (whom are most of the country’s population and other guest Bahrainis..)
  3. Turning the top floor into a space research centre and making it the closest point any Bahraini will get to the moon
  4. Making Bahrain more bearable when walking in the heat due to the huge shadow it will cast spanning from Manama City Centre to Durrat Al-Bahrain.
  5. Attaching a waterslide on the top for all those adrenalin junkies leading to one of the pools of the Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park
  6. The only other opportunity to see the rest of the 90% of Bahrain’s unsee-able landscapes
  7. Moving the Council of Representatives and Shuraa to the higer floors of the skyscraper making it more possible to lock them up and hunger them until they do something right for this country and if they don’t, just chuck them out the window!

Any more ideas??
