Here you will find several tutorials and materials covering the basics of Movie Maker and Adobe Premiere. All material can be downloaded in Microsoft Word document format. These materials were created for a course of the same name currently being delivered in the Ministry of Education’s Teacher Training Centre (by yours truly). I hope that you all find the material helpful and useful.

Pre-Production:
Storyboarding: Storyboard Examples
Storyboard Template: You can use this template for drawing storyboards or alternatively use PowerPoint to create a presentation with six empty slides and when printing choose 3 slides per page so that you get three frames and some lines to write additional information about the scene.
**Storyboard Exercise: Watch one of the following adverts and draw a rough storyboard of what is happening. After completing the storyboard, switch storyboards with one of the other groups in your class and see if they can identify the shots and advert.

Download Audacity : Audacity is a free audio editor, which allows you to record and edit audio files. Due to the fact that Audacity is an open source program, many plug-ins can be found on the website in the form of effects and extra tools.

Rendering and Exporting:
**FINAL VIDEO PROJECT**
This project makes 80% of your final mark to complete this program and the project will be as followed:
” You have been asked to enter a competition between Bahrain’s schools in creating short educational videos to enhance lessons in your field of teaching. The video should contain original and archived footage and images, in addition to audio in the form of dialogue, narration or music”.
The video must comply to the following criteria:
- Between 2-5 minutes long
- Must contain original footage and images, archived footage or images are allowed but in small amounts.
- The video must contain a title in the beginning and credits in the end (these are not added in the actual video’s duration).
- Demonstrate the use of transitions and video effects in at least one scene in the video.
- The Premiere Project and original files should be handed in on a CD or DVD depending on the file size, including the final video.
- The Final video must be exported as DV PAL 720 x 576.
- A rough copy script and storyboard are also required to prove pre-production.
The final deadline for submitting the above is Monday 19th May 2008.

BBC Motion Gallery : A great website with huge amounts of video footage and archives ranging anything from Chinese culture to Koalas sleeping! Clips are downloadable in Windows Media Format and Quicktime Movie format.
Incompetech : Great resource for music pieces in many genres and moods. Download the tracks in .mp3 format.
SoundDogs: Good resource for sound effects. Use the search engine to find the sound effect you want.
Fotosearch (Thanks to Ali Helal): Good resource for stock photography, video footage and music.
Media College: A good web resource that contains a number of tutorials covering the basics of Adobe Premiere and editing in general. You can also visit the main page to find forums and links for sound effects and downloadable videos to work with.
